INNOVATION IN HUMAN-MACHINE INTERACTION

WHAT WILL HMI SOLUTIONS FOR AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY LOOK LIKE IN 2030?

Together with Claas and the TU Dresden, and funded by Rentenbank and The Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE bzw. Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung) we are developing innovative HMI solutions for agricultural machinery. Using a human-centered process, we are aiming to address the increasing digitization and autonomization of agricultural processes by creating a more adaptable and supportive work environment for the user.

User Research – understanding people’s needs and pains today is key to deriving insights for future concepts

We started with extensive field research where we accompanied and observed numerous users on their machines during harvesting and interviewed farmers and agricultural managers.

Co-Creation – imagining the future of agricultural workplaces together with lead users and experts

The project team was collaboratively working on innovative solutions addressing various user scenarios. Following a human-centered innovation process, we then went into the next iteration.

Using a co-creative approach, we discussed and improved early concepts with lead users and experts to bring these to the next level. Packed with loads of valuable feedback and ideas, we worked out what the human-machine interaction might be like for CLAAS machinery in 2030.
